Disability Coverage

If we sit down and calculate our current earnings, a growth rate, and the number of earning years ahead of us, the number can be quite surprising. For many of us, it is in the millions. So the question is – you are insuring your $50,000 car, your $400,000 home, your $200,000 contents, but what about your income?

If you want to insure your income by taking out Disability Coverage, we have some bad news for you. It is hard to get. Insurers are going to check you out thoroughly before issuing a plan.

They are expensive. Or at least can be. We have had some experience in designing these plans so they are a little more reasonable, but again depending on plan, amount, duration – they can get up there. Most definitely get a good insurance professional on your side prior to taking out disability coverage. They will help you get a good plan and more importantly, should support you all the way through if you need to submit a claim.

Life Insurance

Someone once said “Life Insurance is the most unselfish thing you will ever buy”. We are not sure about that, but it is something that will benefit your beneficiaries after you’re gone. Hopefully not too soon.

Whether we are taking out life insurance in our Companies or personally, we usually do so because there is someone we love or care about. This could be family, friends, business partners, employees, charities, etc. As well, because our loves and cares and circumstances change, life insurance needs should be re-evaluated every few years and kept up to date.

There are two main types of life insurance – term insurance and permanent insurance. Term insurance is generally good for shorter term needs, such as covering a loan, mortgage, partnership agreement, etc. Permanent insurance is another name for Whole Life or Universal Life Insurance and is designed to expire when you do, whener ever that is.

People today live longer on average then our parents and prior generations. With this insurance rates have fallen over the years. In some cases, quite dramatically. Getting good service from an insurance professional ensures your plans are kept up to date and are priced right.

Critical Illness Insurance

Few products have as interesting a development history as this one. Dr. Marius Barnard performed his first human to human transplant on December 3rd 1967, assisted by his brother Christiaan. They have done wonderful work over the past 40 years.

As great as the medical work was, the financial shape of their patients following surgery was nowhere near as healthy. There were  occasions that the patients returned to the heart specialists with new illnesses, likely caused by the financial stress they were under. Dr. Marius realized that there was a need for a new type of insurance – one that paid out on the diagnosis of illness such as cancer, heart attack and stroke. He shared this vision with an insurance company which then went on to develop the first Critical Illness policy.

We have had these plans in Canada now for many years. Many have benefited by having money available and added options in time of need. There are many different plans available. Talk to us about your options.
